Bohemian Boro Shop – Shibuya Tokyo, Japan

There’s nothing in life better than a trip to the glass shop, spending the day checking out functional glass art and gazing into marbles. Talking shop with like minded people will tempt you to stay for the entire day. Nestled in a tiny neighborhood in the Shibuya district in Tokyo, Japan the Bohemian Boro Shop is the areas hottest spot for borosilicate glass collectors. So when the Glass Otaku and the IgniteMe crew heard about this “Nihon-Glass-Paradise” we we’re off to Japan to get the inside scoop.

Owned and run by Kazushi “Sanpei” Onodera  the store is open from 12-9 everyday except Thursdays and carries over 700 different glass items, mostly pendants and marbles but the shop does also sell some glass pipes and glass water-pipes.

Bohemian features art from Japanese glassblowing greats like:

A Daisuke Saito Marble…
A ceramic water-pipe made from the mud at the base of Mt. Fuji
Taiyo Glass figure….maybe a great dabber holder….
A donut-style fumed pipe by an un-named local artist…
Like most American head shops Bohemian also sells hemp apparel, accessories, bags, wallets, and a wide variety of other things… All in all Bohemian is just like a a smoke shop in the States with one exception, since herbal cannabis in Japan is a no-no the main attraction this time is the collection of marbles and pendants on display. The next time you’re strolling the streets of Tokyo, Bohemian is a must visit… but only after you grab yourself a steaming hot bowl of Ramen!
