I spent a ridiculous amount of time ogling at Darby Holm’s Dichroic Cacti Bubbler at Jason Lee’s Goosefire gallery show in May, and it still stands out in memory the most of all the legendary work I saw that night. Darby’s cactus series has a particular quality of being more than meets the eye. This piece definitely puts form before function, and it’s done just right.
It actually hardly looks like a bubbler to the untrained eye. It’s easy to get lost in the dichroic finish, the masterfully crafted arms of the cactus, or the little desert scene at the base. We invite you to it:
