MOmo Glass – The Fishbowl

During the American Glass Expo last august in Las Vegas, Nevada the IgniteMe crew was on the look out for the latest and greatest the glass industry had to offer. Sometime during the first day of the even we stumbled into the booth/room run by MOmo Glass and let’s just say we were blown away before we could even get through the doorway. “Finally, a breath of fresh air on the scientific side of things” we thought as we gazed upon the thick schott glass and the diverse variety of perc styles. We talked with the owners and told them we wanted to know more about the brand…

Founded smack dab in the middle of the country in the small town of Columbia, Missouri MOmo comes from humble roots. Started by retired Navy veteran and shop owner Shaun Ward, his dream was to produce and sell products that were not only consumer friendly but also served as a little slice of his home in Missouri. Choosing the Missouri Monster (Known as “The Beast”), a famed local legend akin to Bigfoot MOmo was keen to be a monster hit with smokers across the country. Soon before MOmo’s first ever delivery after A.G.E. the IgniteMe crew was invited to test drive each piece in their debut line and give our feedback and comments. Now after some much needed holiday R&D we’re ready to give our opinions! Fellow glass otaku may I present, Beast Week: By MOmo Glass. Every day this week we’ll be checking out a different MOmo creation, making sure they’re up to snuff for our readership. So without further to do, let’s meet The Fishbowl…

…”Blast From the Past”: The Bubble Bottom design is ancient, but the vapor swing isn’t!…

With a style more akin to something you’d see in a Cheech n’ Chong flick this bubble bottom water-pipe is a blast from the past, but like the 6 Million Dollar Man, “they’ve rebuilt him”. Unlike it’s counterparts of yore the Fishbowl is a more scientific take on the classic design, with a simple diffusion system this pipe is not only perfect for those looking for a pipe without a lot of moving parts but we also found out that the Fishbowl can also be used as the perfect vapor tube. With an angled gridded shower-head perc as the only diffuser the pipe has a “lazy boy” feel, making it perfect for those who like to smoke whilst reclined on the couch. The shower-head perc itself is masterfully done, like us you’ll find yourself looking at it’s magnified detail for hours once you fill the tube with water.

…”Laser Guided Perc”: The intricate cuts on the perc leads us to believe some ancient alien technologies were involved during the construction process…

As for diffusion power the Fishbowl doesn’t let you down, by providing a “chuggling” feeling you can really feel the perc roar with bubbles as you take the hit. What is also great is that you’ll never have to deal with broken downstems again! The Fishbowl is designed with a Dewaar recessed style downstem making it hard to break and easy to clean. The joint sizing is 14mm and comes out at the perfect angle for some vapor swings and curves. The pipe itself stands 17 in tall and is 4 1/2 in at the base. Unlike the traditional bubble bottom pipes you’re used to seeing the Fishbowl doesn’t rest on it’s bottom rather it sits on a foot providing exemplary safety and overall sound design.

 …”Roar perc roar!!”…

…”A Jack of all trades”: The Fishbowl can be used either for concentrates or flowers!…

All in all we loved the Fishbowl, if you’re looking for a versatile piece thats good for both concentrates and flowers look no further. MOmo’s take on the classic bubble-bottom design has brought the style new life. The Fishbowl is currently available at all MOmo retailers and will soon be availible directly through MOmo online for just $270.95, a price thats sure not to break the bank. So If you’d like to score a MOmo of your own for your collection or if you’d like to become one of the growing number of authorized retailers please contact MOmo via their Official Facebook Page!

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s BEAST WEEK review!
