Ever since I let IgniteMe Editor and Writer Dan Amber test out the last Silika Oiler needless to say I’ve felt a gap in my life. The original oiler was probably the quintessential daily driver piece; easy to clean, just the right size, and able to take on either concentrates or flowers. And with such a simple and sleek design traveling with it is a breeze! When the guys at Silika told us they were working on a re-vamped version of the inline vapor tube we were beside ourselves to try it, and to nobodies surprise once we got ahold of it the pipe quickly become the driver of choice. So without further to do let’s take a closer look at this baby!
The Oiler V.2.0. is much like the previous model, but from first glance you can see everything has been re-vamped. All of the labeling is done in a popping white on black, and the Silika logo isn’t the only art featured on the piece! On the bottom section of the tube sports an overflowing oil rig, which in our opinion is a great subtle addition that gives this pipes some extra pizzaz. Instead of just a single inline perc the piece is split up into two sections; the first 60mm section features an top side slit inline perc as the original model did. Only with the new style of Inline the diffusion was greatly improved, the top 50mm section is decked out with an 8 arm tree perc which for flower users provides an extra level of diffusion.
Like the previous Oiler clearing the piece is easy, even with the tree perc you experience minimal drag. Another big change is in the style of mouthpiece, instead of a wide bent neck mouthpiece Silika decided to keep it simple with a straight thinner mouthpiece. The straight nature of the mouthpiece encourages you to hit the piece in a parallel fashion which in turn creates more plentiful diffusion. The piece comes complete with a borosilicate nail, an 18mm female slide for flowers as well as an 18mm female vapor dome. Like the Oilers before this piece has become the office favorite, it almost seems like Silika’s clean style entices you to use it. It’s built to the highest of standards only with Schott German tubing.
